Rajesh Khanna (born 29 December 1942 - died 18 July 2012) was an Indian Bollywood actor, director and producer.He made many Hindi films and also entered politics. He was a Congress Party MP from New Delhi Lok Sabha seat for five years from 1991-96. Later he retired from politics.

He worked in a total of 180 films and 163 feature films, played the lead role in 128 films, double role in 22, and also worked in 17 short films.[2] And within three years 1969-71, he became known as the superstar of Bollywood by acting in 15 solo hit films. He received the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in films three times and was nominated 14 times. He also won the Best Actor Award for Hindi films by the Bengal Film Journalists Association maximum four times and was nominated 25 times.He was given the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Rajesh Khanna was the first superstar of Hindi cinema.[5][6][7][8] He made his acting debut in 1966 with the film Aakhri Khat. He had three consecutive successful films - Raaz, Baharon Ke Sapne, Aakhri Khat and Baharon Ke Sapne was a complete failure. He did 74 golden jubilee hits from 1966-1991. He did 22 silver jubilee films from 1966-1991. He did 9 average hit films from 1966-1996. He did 163 films from 1966-2013 and 105 were hits.
